17 days in Switzerland and Italy (12) - Tremezzo (Lake Como), Italy

Lake Como - Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta)

Tremezzo, another small town in Lake Como, is where the villa Carlotta is located. With the one-day ferry pass, we had the flexibility to just hop on/off ferries anytime we want. Thus, on our way back from Lenno, we decided to stop by this small town to take a close look at villa Carlotta.

The villa is famous for its magnificent English garden, which contains about 500 species of plants and flowers. We didn't visit the villa (9 euro entrance fee), but the garden is at the road side so we were still able to enjoy its beauty from distance.

A happy surprise for us is a small garden full of vines and purple flowers right beside the street. I really like the purple flower blossom. In fact, Lake Como is the only place that I see so many purple blossom. Indeed beautiful. (I couldn't find the name of the tree that has purple flowers. If you know please share with me!) From the garden, you can see Ballegio from distance.

Tremezzo doesn't have as many tourists. A few people choose to stay in Tremezzo, but I bet there are not a lot except for the peak season. Most people just stop by here for an hour or two to visit the villa Carlotta and then take the ferry for their next destination. We were no exception. After a short stay, we took the ferry to continue our Lake Como tour. Our next destination: the popular Ballegio.
